Summary of the impacts of climate change survey

We did a survey on what people thought the impacts of climate change would be within the next 25 years. The people thought the impacts would be.

  1. .Sea level rises.
  2. There will be no difference between the seasons.
  3. -Some species of plants and animals would die out.
  4. -Famine in some places.
  5. -More weather related natural disasters e.g. more strong hurricanes and flooding.
  6. -Wars over resources like food and oil.

Summary Of Climate Change

Hi from Blackpool!
This is a summary of our intial survey about Climate Change. We asked the question: What should the UK government do about Climate Change?
  1. Make recycling easier and accessible to everyone
  2. More money to science - Research more energy saving methods
  3. Raise awareness through advertising - TV, magazine etc
  4. Less tax on smaller cars
  5. Make public transport better and cheaper
  6. Heavier fines for pollution
  7. Cut down non-renewable energy use

Initial Survey (Blackpool)- what individuals can do to combat Climate Change

This is a summary of our findings from our initial survey here in Blackpool, when we asked people: "What actions can you as individuals take to combat Climate Change?"
1. Recycle items such as paper, plastics
2. Use energy efficient appliances
3. Use cars less for travel and walk, cycle and use public transport more.
4. Reuse items such as plastic bags
5. Turn appliances off when not being used e.g. lights, computers
6. Have a compost bin at home
7. Buy local, seasonal produce
8. Buy organic produce

Some key Climate Change information

Follow this link for a very useful presentation by the Chairman of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in Toyko earlier this year.  He gives some key information about evidence for climate change and some of the impacts happening already.  The last part concentrates mostly on the Asia-Pacific area.

Re-engineering the atmosphere

Here's an interesting article from the Economist magazine about new ideas on how the atmosphere might be "reengineered" to lessen the effects of climate change:

As the article says, however, there are plenty of doubts about whether such schemes would really work and have the kind of impact which is needed.

Welcome To Our BlogSite

Merhaba!  Hello!

This is the first post in the blogspace for the Comenius Project, "Let's Heal the World" which is a partnership  between Gaziemir Kipa 10. Yil Lisesi in Turkey and The Blackpool Sixth Form College in the UK.

Our project will focus on Climate Change and will run over 2 years.
